Procedure

Weigh deionized water into vessel large enough to provide adequate mixing while preparing batch. Use mixing speed sufficient to create a vortex within the water. Screen/sift the required amount of Carbopol 980 polymer into the vortex. Mix for 20-30 minutes or until polymer is completely hydrated (no lumps, barely visible in the system). Slowly add the Fixate Plus polymer into the vessel. Adjust the speed of the mixer as necessary to prevent splashing. Slowly add the TEA to the vessel, partially neutralizing the product. Allow the product to mix for approximately five minutes. Scrape sides of the vessel to incorporate all ingredients into the gel. In a separate vessel, combine phase B ingredients and mix well. Add premixed phase B to phase A. Allow the product to mix for approximately five minutes while scraping the sides of the vessel to fully incorporate ingredients. In a separate vessel, combine phase C ingredients and mix well. Add premixed phase C to the first mixing vessel. Allow the product to mix for approximately five minutes while scraping the sides of the vessel to fully incorporate ingredients. Neutralize the product to pH 6.8-7.2 using TEA. Scrape sides of vessel to incorporate all ingredients into the gel, assuring homogeneity. Mix the final product for five minutes prior to packaging.
